Splatoon 2 producer Hisashi Nogami revealed the Octo Expansion’s release date today at the end of the Splatoon 2 World Championships.Splatoon 2: Octo Expansion is a new single-player adventure that packs in more than 80 missions. Players take on the role of Agent 8, a new character who fights her way from an underground facility to the surface of Inkopolis. Players can unlock playable Octolings and in-game gear by completing the Octo Expansion DLC.Octo Expansion will be available for $19.99 from the Nintendo eShop.In addition to revealing the release date, Nogami promised even more content for Splatoon 2. Along with announcing that the Inklings would appear the new Super Smash Bros for the Switch (which is apparently a brand new game), Nintendo also promised a ton of new updates for Splatoon 2. Update 3.0 is coming in April and will bring three new maps – Piranha Pit and Camp Triggerfish from Splatoon 1 and the new Wahoo World.There will also be over 100 new pieces of gear to collect; Rank X, a higher ranked mode than S+; two new songs for multiplayer; and the appearance of Callie in Octo Canyon with Marie if certain conditions are met.But wait, there’s more – Splatoon 2 will also receive a paid expansion for $20 with Octo Expansion. It’s out this Summer and brings a new story mode focused on amnesiac Octoling Agent 8 with 80 new missions. There will be plenty of old and new characters appearing with players learning more about the world’s lore.
If you beat the story, then the Octolings will be available in multiplayer.
