Basic gameplay in Aviary Attorney is fairly similar to its handheld predecessors. Much of the game is essentially a visual novel, with a fair amount of game-altering choices interspersed throughout. Once Falcon has been presented with a case, he and his ever-ravenous assistant Sparrowson hit the streets of Paris, traveling to various locations throughout the city on a hunt for clues to help. UPDATE 3/14/18: It's been a hot minute y'all! I wrote this over the course of less than a week right after the game came out and proceeded to never finish it, even after the release of 4C. I do want to finish in the near future, but just be forewarned that it's incomplete for now.
And thanks to everyone who's left a comment - I love this game so, so much, and I'm really glad to be able to help other people enjoy it too. Have fun lawyering.THIS WALKTHROUGHThis guide will ultimately be a how-to for the main routes of Aviary Attorney, along with a short spoiler-free walkthrough of all major endings and a discussion of all other possible plot points (losing trials, etc.). If there is a choice and this walkthrough does not mention choosing one option over another, the choice in that instance will only affect the dialogue and not have any bearing on the plot. The spoiler-free walkthrough and the full walkthrough explain the 'fullest' route, in which every possible bit of evidence is collected. However, it's entirely possible to lose every single case of the game or miss certain pieces of evidence and still get all three endings. There is a section on alternative case endings and resulting plot differences at the end of this guide. Many thanks to ceruleanhail who contributed the location of the copper pot in Act Three.EVIDENCEYour evidence folder can be accessed by clicking the briefcase icon in the bottom right of the screen, just above the text box. It contains all items and clues obtained during a case with a short description of each item.WALLETFalcon's wallet is to the left of the evidence folder and will display the amount of money you have at any given time. Your choices during can either lose or gain you francs, and it will be necessary to have some money in order to complete the good ending.
Be careful not to lose it all playing Jacques-noir.FACE BOOKSparrowson keeps notes on all the animals you meet during your investigations. Access the Face Book by clicking on the book icon to the left of the wallet. Unlike the evidence folder, which is emptied at the end of a case, the face book covers every character in the game.MAP SCREENThe map screen displays all available locations to which you can travel and investigate.
Areas marked with a clock will advance the clock by one day, but areas with no clock can be visited freely without moving the date forward. Sometimes, special locations with an exclamation point will appear; these will never move the game day forward and are usually a cinematic extra scene adding to the plot. They are completely optional, but recommended for gaining insight into the case and broader plot.INVESTIGATIONSometimes when entering a location you can search for evidence by moving your mouse over the screen to find areas to search, which will be marked with borders at the corner.
Click on the item to have examine it in detail. Click the X in the upper-right corner to exit the investigation.CROSS-EXAMINATIONFalcon takes notes on all the testimonies, and you can press the witnesses for more information by clicking the underlined portions of their testimony. Usually this will give you two questions you can ask - but be careful, don't press too hard on too implausible a line of questioning, or else you'll lose favor with the jury.
Three strikes - either in presenting the wrong evidence, or in losing favor with the jury - and the trial's over. (It's currently unknown if gaining favor with the jury undoes a 'strike,' so to speak, but it's likely.) However, losing a trial does not mean game over; it will have repercussions on some parts of the plot and dialogue, but you can keep playing.JACQUES-NOIRYou can play blackjack with Sparrowson during the introduction to the first case by refusing to take the case, or in the Card Room at the tavern. You can choose to 'Hit' (draw another card) or 'Stand' (don't draw any more). If you go over 21 or the dealer comes closer to 21 than you do you win - but if you're closer than the dealer, you'll win. ACT ONE - A CAT WITH CLAWS Monday, January 3rdSparrowson asks if you'll take the case; either refusing or accepting will ultimately lead to taking the case anyway, but if you choose 'Nope' you will play a card minigame 'Jacques-noir,' or blackjack.Move to La Conciergerie to speak with your client.Tuesday, January 4thMove to Chateau Crinerie.

Monday, January 3rdFalcon shows up late to the Aviary Attorney office and receives a letter from Seigneur Purrtoir Demiaou asking for legal help for his daughter, Dame Caterline, wrongly accused of murder. Your assistant, Sparrowson, asks if you'll be taking the case. If you respond 'Of course!'
You will proceed to La Conciergerie, the prison where Caterline Demiaou is being held. If you choose 'Nope' Sparrowson will challenge you to a game of Jacques-noir (Blackjack) where you try to get closer to 21 when drawing cards than the dealer. Sparrowson will always win, and you'll head over to La Conciergerie anyway. The letter will be added to your evidence folder, where any items or clues you've collected during a case can be reviewed by clicking on the briefcase item in the lower-right hand corner of the screen.
Falcon will also pick up his wallet, which will display how many francs you are in possession of at any time.Click on the Conciergerie from the Map Screen to begin your investigation. You will be greeted by Kwark, the crotchety prison guard, who takes you to Dame Caterline. You ask what happened the night of the murder and who was in attendance. She tells you that she, her father Purrtoir, and M. Grenwee (the deceased) met at the home of Baron Rorgeuil as the three men are business partners. Robitto de Robinio, a photographer, came to take their picture, and a camera is added to your evidence folder.
Grenwee was gutted in the garden and Caterline was found standing above him by her housemaid, Couline, who called the police. She says there was nothing suspicious that night - except the dinner was served without silverware. Red herring and bloody-rare steak are added to your evidence folder.Caterline asks if you believe that she is innocent. The choice you make here does not affect the plot in any major way. Sparrowson then begins the Face Book, where you can now review the profiles of the people you encounter.
You return to your offices to rest up before continuing your investigation. Tuesday, January 4th - Wednesday, January 5thYou have two days to investigate the photographer's studio and the scene of the crime; these can be done in any order. If you visit La Conciergerie during this time, Kwark will turn you away as visiting hours are over. Returning to the A.A.
Offices causes Sparrowson to prompt you back to investigating.STUDIO DE ROBINIORobinio isn't home, so you can either knock or not. If you respect the note, the day will end and you will be unable to investigate. If you don't respect the note, break in and investigate the area. Click on the open doors to the far right to find an easel with the photograph of Caterline on it. You can choose to take it or not.
When you leave, Robinio sees you, but no matter what you choose you blame it on someone else and get out quickly.CHATEAU CRINIEREUpon entering, a pair of poor kangaroo named Sautanne and Gambade ask you for a donation. You can choose to give nothing, one franc, or ten francs, and they will leave - but if you gave nothing, Gambade also lifts your wallet and you are left with no money.
When you enter the building, you are greeted by Baron Rorgeuil, who asks you if you're investigating the murder. You can choose to pretend to be policemen, or own up to being lawyers. This choice mainly affects the particulars of your dialogue. Either way, Rorgeuil gives you permission to investigate the grounds. In the lounge a tall giraffe named Couline Duhaut is pocketing silverware.
She tells you that this is in fact where the photograph was taken, right in front of the clock with no hands. Missing clock hands are added to your evidence folder.
You can choose to grill her about the silverware she was stealing or let it go, but either way she will confess to being the culprit behind the missing cutlery at last night's dinner. Missing silverware is added to your evidence folder. In the garden, investigate the fountain.
Sparrowson flips a coin to see who'll get their feathers wet, but whether you choose heads or tails Falcon loses. In the basin you find a cigar butt, probably Rorgeuil's, which is added to the evidence folder. In the main room, talk to Rorgeuil. You can choose to reveal that Couline is a thief, but the baron already knows. Question him about his activities; if you select 'We'll see' he will kick you off his property. If you say 'Let's see,' he'll just recap the approximate times of arrival for the guests.
This will end your investigation here. Thursday, January 6th: Trial DayIf you try to go to any location other than the Palais de Justice, you will be forced back to the map screen. Head on over and Sparrowson will ask how nervous you are. The trial will begin as Judge Maxime calls the court and jury to order.Prosecutor Rabbington calls his first witness to the stand, the long-winded and justice-minded Inspector Volerti. He begins to tell the story of why he pursues the Viridian Killer, but it's irrelevant to the case and is forced to give his actual testimony. He says Caterline was found with blood on her paws, which is news.
Press him on that statement and ask whose blood it was. Present the bloody-rare steak to provide an alternate explanation: the blood around her mouth indicates it was actually the food. Present the missing silverware to explain why she would be eating with her bare paws, despite her bourgeois upbringing. That's it for Volerti, so Rabbington calls Robinio to the stand.Robinio presents the photo to the court and explains that he arrived at 7pm and took the photo around 7:30pm - the time of the murder. Press him on photograph to point out a mistake - the clock. Present the missing clock hands to explain that it's impossible for a clock with no hands to tell the time. Robinio confesses to manipulating the photograph and says he's fearful to say why because of 'his claws.'
Because one part of the photo is edited, it's impossible to use it as evidence.Suddenly, Rorgeuil takes the stand to try and clear a few things up. Talking over the judge and prosecution, he gives his testimony. Press him on garden, and ask when the last time he visited was. He claims he hasn't been to his own garden in years, that's not right.
Present the cigar butt to prove him wrong. You end up accusing Rorgeuil of murder, and he threatens to gut you like a frog. He's taken away and your client is declared not guilty! Back to the office for a celebratory drink!except, Caterline has something to confess before the case completely ends. So much for celebrating. Monday, January 10thFalcon hasn't shown up to the office and Sparrowson is worried. Choose to go out and find him.
Checking at the Palais de Justice and La Conciergerie doesn't turn up anything, but if you visit Chateau Criniere Couline will tell you he'd been drinking last night at Le Canard Joyeux. The owner, Quanelle, tells you Falcon is probably still up in the Drinking Room. When you go there you find him passed out on the floor - only pouring a drink over his head will wake him. He's still quite depressed about the outcome of the trial, but Sparrowson has croissants and pain au chocolate back at the office. At the office, Mousey interrupts.
He says the Prince of Spain is in legal trouble, and if you try to not take the case Sparrowson cajoles you into it anyway. Head over to the Conciergerie to meet your new client.Prince Juan has been accused of attempting to assassinate the king at the unveiling of his new portrait at the Palais du Louvre.
Juan says he entered through the Jardin de Tuileries and upon seeing the king tried to give him a rose. Major Howl, a royal guard, took the rose instead and died immediately after pricking his finger. He obtained the rose from a flower seller named Cygne.
The poisoned rose is added to your evidence folder. Juan also says he's in Paris on a diplomatic mission, due to arguments about who is to take the throne in Spain. When asked about his book, Juan explains that he's been reading Don Quixote, and gives it to you. You decide to investigate the Louvre, the flower seller, and Juan himself since he seemed a little suspicious. Saturday, January 15thLES LOUPS will appear in the bottom-right corner of the map screen; watch it for an extra cinematic sequence before heading to the Conciergerie. After bluffing your way into the prison, you confront Juan. He won't reveal his name, but says you can guess.
Present R&M business card - he's actually Renard Vulpes. But apparently, Falcon's name isn't his real name either.
When you ask about why he wanted to be arrested, he tells you a story about a woman in debt who accepted a request to murder someone in exchange for paying it off until a 'gallant knight' took the fall for her. He asks you to go to Mousey to deliver a cryptic message. Monday, February 7thIf you chose to get chocolate to trade for string and did not find the pot at the Louvre, you'll need to go to the Pont des Arts to trade the chocolate for Toussaint's fishing line, as described in the previous section under February 1st and 2nd.If you already finished your shopping, try visiting the Palais de Justice. Judge Maxime is back, and reveals that he never fell down a flight of stairs - he was pushed in the Seine and thought he was an axolotl accountant for two weeks before he recovered.
He doesn't have any new information about the rebellion or the Croc-Monsieur, though. Cookie jam cheats level 1309. Friday, February 11th - Wednesday, February 16thLES HALLESSautanne tells you a story about how they'd once owned a shop and bought an egg that was easily worth 2000 francs, which they'd planned to resell until the king stole it. He only gave her a useless British coin in exchange, which she gives to you.PONT DES ARTSToussaint tells you that the other day he caught a two-meter catfish out of the Seine, and the king came up to cheer and steal it for his lunch. One of the guards did flip him a one franc coin.BIBLIOTHEQUE CACHEENeighthan tells you that as far as the king's leadership goes, he's pro-industry - at the expense of the poor masses. He okays all of Guizot's backward policies and isn't personable at all. He does tell you that he's met the king on several occasions when he came to check out a book or two.
He always gets thick volumes but they come back with footprints on the covers.PALAIS DE JUSTICEJudge Maxime compliments you on the catacombs business - turns out you're gaining a reputation. You ask him to be the judge for the king's trial. He says he might not do it, but when Falcon isn't fazed, he remarks on the resemblance between Falcon and his grandfather. His grandfather prosecuted King Louis XIV, and Maxime asks why Falcon chose to be a defense attorney.
No matter the answer you give, he's impressed and agrees to judge so he can see what Robespierre's grandson is capable of.LE CANARD JOYEUXQuanelle busts out laughing when you ask her if she ever served the king. In the drinking room, an incredibly drunk Volerti tries to beg forgiveness for thinking you were the Viridian Killer. If you say you don't, Sparrowson bullies you into accepting Volerti's apology anyway. In return, you ask him to repay his debt by bringing the king to the courthouse when the rebellion starts. He starts accusing you of treason, so you let him be.R&M ASSOCIESRenard has met the king outside of his Juan Quierda persona.
He asks 10000 francs in exchange for the story, and tells you you'll find some way to repay him eventually. He was dressed as a sickly beggar when the king took out a 20 franc coin and told him he knew what it was like to be poor, as he only had a thousand of them to his name in his younger days, before leaving.
ACT ONEIf you fail to secure a Not Guilty verdict for Caterline Demiaou, she never confesses that she's the real killer and is executed. Falcon spends the next day drinking at Canard Joyeux not because he still believes in her innocence, not because Rorgeuil was convicted and set to be executed instead. In Falcon's dream after being thrown in the Seine, she asks him 'Why did you fail me?' If you go to the Chateau during Chapter Three and speak to Couline, she'll say that the Baron is capable of managing the household on his own instead of saying she's leaving with him being gone now.
In ending 4A, if Caterline was executed instead of Rorgeuil, the Viridian Killer blows him up instead and Beaumort is charged with his murder instead of Caterline's. Everything else about 4A stays the same.ACT TWOIf you fail in the first trial session, Severin interrupts and claims a mistrial because he cares more about justice than a conviction, and is the one to deliver the threatening note instead. The note begins with, 'You got lucky this time,' instead. If you fail during the cross examination of the king during the second trial session, Juan is sentenced to die at 9am the next day by guillotine and tells you he chose you for your character - though now he sees you're also a bit touched in the head. Mousey appears to free Juan from his handcuffs and tells you to visit R&M sometime if you need some explanations. Volerti follows him out of the Palais du Justice. Sparrowson shows up after everyone has left, and his objection does no good at all. 000bIf you don’t cross-examine Cygne after her confession or present the wrong evidence when convincing her to speak or trying to implicate Romulus, you will still get a not-guilty verdict but she will be prosecuted for her role in the murder and Romulus will walk free.
Juan will tell you he hired you for your ideals and that he believes you'll eventually live up to your family name. He still offers his aid in future cases, and gives you your compensation.
